It is the responsibility of the child welfare service (barnevernet) to ensure that children and young people living under potentially harmful conditions will get the necessary help and care.

Emergency phone for children and young people – 116 111 

116 111 is an emergency telephone for children and young people. It is free to use, and is open when the child welfare offices are closed. On weekdays, the line is open from 15:00 until 08:00 the next morning. At the weekends it is open 24 hours a day.
