Health services

It is the municipalities responsibility to organise general practitioner services, such as the primary doctor scheme, accident and emergency departments, physiotherapy, public health centers and school medical services, home nursing care, midwifery services and nursing homes or living arrangements for around-the-clock nursing and care.

Emergency medical service

  • During office hours emergency service is provided by your own primary doctor
  • Out of office hours emergency medical service is provided at the Accident and Emergencies (Legevakten) which is located at Sørlandet Hospital in Arendal 
  • In case of an emergency call: 113

Familiehuset i Tvedestrand (public health center) 

Familiehuset is a public health center that provides health care to children from 0 - 18 and midwife services during pregnancies. The health center also provides school medical services and a special health center for teenagers. It is located in Fritz Smitsgate 1, right beside the old city hall / harbour.

Dental health care

Agder County Municipality provides free dental service to children and young people up to the age of 18, and to people with special needs. Read more on the Agder County Council website.
